Kagbeni to Muktinath – Nepal’s Shangri-la

We took horses from Kagbeni to Muktinath to
give our ‘over-worked’ legs a break

Muktinath (3,800m)
After a 3-hr nail-biting-heart-cringing journey with
lots of screaming and laughter in between,
we finally arrived in Muktinath

At the hotel in Muktinath (above and below)

Going up the steep slope
There were times when ‘my heart was in my mouth’!

Our lives were ‘hanging at the edge of the cliff’, literally!

Along the Kali Gandaki (River)
The screams faded as our energy depleted,
confidence boosted, and fear alleviated.

Back in Jomsom, safe and sound

While the men were having a ball
drinking beer downstairs (in the hotel)…

…the ladies were having as much fun upstairs,
recounting the experience of a lifetime

With Krishna and the porters
Outside the hotel in Jomsom

Scenery along the way
Nepal’s Shangri-la?
